Note - this page is informational and is not necessarily up-to-date. In general, it contains information that has already been handed out in class. You are expected to attend class and labs at the appointed time to know what is going on and what the deadlines are/were.

hw08 -- Deadline: May 7 [10 points]
This was a script assignment (Chapter 15) in which the handout was given in class. You can click on hw08 handout to download or view the Word doc.
hw07b -- Deadline: May 5 [15 points]
Copy the file /home/jsjones/datafiles/hw07.sh to your csit1300 directory. You are to figure out each command needed and insert it into the script following the echo lines for that problem. Test your script by running it on the command line.
hw07a -- Deadline: May 3 [10 points]
Another handout that began in-class and that you were given to complete and hand in, covering Chapter 10. You can click on hw07a handout to download or view the Word doc.
hw06 -- Deadline: Apr 13 [20 points]
This chapter 9 assignment began in-class and is tied to the slides for this chapter that are up on the W-drive. In class you were given the hw06 handout. Grading of this assignment involves evidence of having done it as specified.
hw05 -- Deadline: Mar 29 [20 points]
This chapter 8 assignment began in-class and involved the exploring access permissions on files and directories. It is all described in the hw05 handout. Grading of this assignment involves evidence of having done it as specified and using the editors as specified.
Midterm Exam -- Date: Friday, March 12 [50 points]
Questions covering chapters 0-4 & 7. T/F and multiple choice questions for 70% of the exam. The rest involves short answer responses by writing the one or more Unix commands needed to accomplish certain basic tasks.
hw04 -- Deadline: Mar 5 [12 points]
This assignment is to do all 6 of the chapter 7 exercises and submit your answers to me using the submit link on my web page or as an email attachment. All of your questions should be relevant to your logon to trinity, except for exercise 7.2 in which you will need to logon to your account on neo in order to have read access to /etc/passwd.
hw03 -- Deadline: Feb 19 [20 points]
This chapter 5 assignment began in-class and involved the use various editors (pico, vi, emacs, and wordpad). It is all described in the hw03 handout. Grading of this assignment involves evidence of having done it as specified and using the editors as specified.
hw02 -- Deadline: Feb 12 [20 points]
This assignment covered chapters 1 and 2, and was the lab 2 sheet handed out in class. Students are to complete and return this to me (handwritten answers are fine).
hw01 -- Deadline: Feb 5 [20 points]
This chapter 0 assignment began in-class and involved the use of cd, mkdir, cat, cp, touch, and mv commands to create a directory and file hierarchy. It is all described in the hw01 handout. Grading of this assignment involves evidence of having done it using the commands in the proper way in the bash_history. Trial and error attempts is a good sign, so don't worry about that.
